A fund drive in 1977 raised the necessary money to allow MOVP to purchase an old vaudeville house/movie theatre known as The Cinema.
The first production at MOVP's new facility was Carnival in that year. The Junior Players debuted in 1981 with their performance of Don't Count Your Chickens Until They Cry Wolf. The MOVP Youth Theatre was founded for teens in 1992. MOVP has been active in OCTA (Ohio Community Theatre Association) over the years, winning awards at both the regional and state levels of OCTA competitions. Many improvements have been made to the building since its purchase in 1977.
During the past two years, the face of the building has been renovated, a new handicapped accessible restroom constructed, existing restrooms have been renovated, heating and A/C has been installed in the lobby. These projects would not have been possible if not for the businesses, organizations and individuals who contributed to the work.
