VINCENT, Ohio (May 29, 2013) – In less than two months, thrill seekers, athletes, enthusiasts, novices and youth groups will take to the mud in Vincent for the inaugural Ohio Valley Mud Run. The two-day event will begin Friday, July 19 with live entertainment and camping before an entire day of filthy and challenging obstacles.
The course is designed to challenge participants individually but with a focus on teamwork and sportsmanship at every obstacle. Unlike a traditional 5K race, winners are not determined by time trials, rather participation and attitude. A post-run awards ceremony and cook-out is scheduled for participating teams and individuals thirty minutes after the final run is completed.
“Events like the Ohio Valley Mud Run showcases our valley’s fun-loving, eccentric, adventurous side,” said Jeri Knowlton, executive director of the Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We anticipate another Washington County tradition to be born for both residents and tourists to enjoy.”
There are four challenge categories based on age, distance and difficulty. Those wishing to participate in the run must register online at www.ohiovalleymudrun.com and complete the official waiver in cooperation with safety and restricted guidelines.
