Marietta, Ohio CVB Hosts Sternwheel Rock Night!
August 23, 2005 - For the fifth year the Marietta, Washington County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) is hosting a concert on Thursday evening prior to the kick off of the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival. This year, on Thursday, September 8, 2005 the CVB, Energizer, and the Lafayette Hotel present Sternwheel Rock Night featuring Insured Sound, one of the regions top variety bands performing hits from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. The CVB worked with Rick Modesitt Associates, Inc. of Parkersburg to select the entertainment.
This year, Energizer is assisting the CVB with sponsorship of Sternwheel Rock Night. Katherine Kispert of Energizer said, Energizer is really excited and proud to have the opportunity to support tourism in Marietta and Washington County. We couldnt think of a better way to do so than sponsoring such a terrific event as the Sternwheel Rock Night. We hope everyone enjoys themselves!
Sternwheel Rock Night will be held in the parking lot of the Lafayette Hotel. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Lafayette Hotel Ballroom. Admission is $5.00 per person and the gate will open at 6:30 p.m. Insured Sound will perform from 7:00 pm 11:00 pm with an intermission at approximately 8:30 pm. There will be food concessions prepared by the Lafayette Hotel (Phi Star) available for purchase, as well as draft Budweiser products. During intermission the CVB will recognize the Sternwheel Captains for their many years in support of the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival and the City of Marietta.
Kelly Dyar, Executive Director of the Marietta, Washington County CVB said, The Board of Directors and staff are committed to producing a quality event as a natural expansion and compliment to the events of the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival. Dyar also noted, Everyone is eager for Sternwheel Festival to get started and the Bureau is pleased to provide entertainment for the Captains, visitors and area residents on Thursday night. Music enthusiasts of all types are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and enjoy a fun-filled evening of rock n roll and dancing!
