Herb talks, garden planning, and assorted demonstrations on Lemon Balm, the herb of the year, will be held throughout the day on May 12. The workshops will start at 9:30 with Ann Brown discussing the history, the growing, and the uses of Lemon Balm. From 10:30 until 11:30 Marianne Monaghan will hold an exciting workshop on a culinary journey through the pages of some of literature’s favorite characters. In the afternoon, Sandie Wilson will hold a workshop on growing herbs...... all the basics as well as positioning in the garden bed, herb companions, and container theme planting.

As every other year, a variety of herbs will be for sale on the north lawn of The Castle from 9 AM until 2:30 PM. Door prizes will be awarded all day long. In addition, there will be an herb luncheon with two seatings – 11:30 and 12:30 – by reservation. The set menu of herb-laced offerings will be $9.50 per person.

A variety of gardening and herb books will be on hand for sale throughout the day.  Over the years, this annual event has been a delight for herb gardeners. Whether it is replenishing or replanning an herb garden, this year there will be something for everyone.

For luncheon reservations please call: 740-373-4180; or e-mail: castle@mariettacastle.org ;    or fax: 740-373-4233.     There will be no Architectural Walking Tours on this day.
