Marietta Riverfront Roar

Since 1986 Powerboat Superleague has been conducting safe, exciting powerboat races all over the United States , Canada , and Europe . Races produced by the Superleague are shown on the Water Channel on Dish Network.

The Races consist of 10-15 laps of qualifying, and 20-30 lap Final per class. There will be 2 main classes competing at the Riverfront Roar which are the F2 (Formula 2), and F3 (Formula 3).

This year both our races will be WORLD CHAMPSIONSHIPS! 

 

Friday, July 11th

12 Noon-                     Road Closures (Front St from Butler to Greene, Greene St from Third to Front St, Second St from Butler to Greene, and Ohio St from the Levee to Third St.), Concessionaires set up, setup for event begins on the Ohio River Bank and the Levee           

5:00 pm                        Powerboats on display- Front St, Greene St  &Second St.

6:00-9:00 pm               Merchants and Artists Walk

6:00-8:00 pm               Drivers’ Party at the city parking lot between the Lafayette Hotel and the Ohio River -
                                    Come meet the race teams-Draw for boat sponsors designations

6:00-8:00 pm               Beer Garden with live entertainment brought to you by --- is open at the city parking lot
                                    between the Lafayette Hotel and the Ohio River

7:00-8:00 pm               Live entertainment by continues on stage- Michael “Moon” Mullen and The Moon Band

8:30-9:30 pm               Live entertainment by continues on stage- Cold Shot

9:45-11 pm                  Outdoor Movie shown at the Armory for the children provided by Kassel Music and The

                                    Mayor’s Jubilee Fund ~ Featured Movie: Madagascar

10:00-12:00 pm           Live entertainment continues on stage- Riverfront Roar Idol Karaoke Finals

Saturday, July 12th

7:00 am                        Registration for Run for The Roar

8:00-9:15 am                Marietta YMCA’s Run for The Roar

9:15-9:30 am                Race Awards presentation

9:00 am                        Registration for Ohio Valley Humane Society’s  “Dog Day at the Roar”, Make a 
                                    donation, walk your pet, and enjoy the races. 

10:00 am                      Powerboats on the Ohio River for testing and fine-tuning

10:00 am                      Beer Garden Opens and “Checkered Flag Area” (VIP) opens

12:00 Noon                  Opening Ceremonies, Ohio River Levee, to include announcing a 1:00 pm     
                                     Heat Races begin

1:00 pm-Midnight         102.1 “The River” Live remote Radio

5:00 pm                        Heat Races conclude

5:00-5:20 pm               Beer Garden with live entertainment is open at the city parking lot between the Lafayette

                                    Hotel & the Ohio River- Elvis Tribute featuring “The Frankster” of  J & J Sporting Goods

5:30 pm–6:30 pm       Live entertainment continues on stage- Plan B

6:30-7:00 pm               Gels Dance Centre  Students aged 6 through 18 years old.

7:00-8:00 pm               Live entertainment continues on stage with Radio 1

8:00-8:30 pm               Gels Dance Centre                  

8:30-9:30 pm               Live entertainment continues on stage with The Dave Martin Band

9:30 pm                        FIREWORKS at the Levee

Sunday, July 13th

8:00 am                        Ham Radio broadcasts begin.  Contact people around the world.

8:00 am-3:00 pm          Pioneer Corvette Association Car Show, Front Street

10:00 am                      Powerboats on the Ohio River , Beer Garden Opens and “Checkered Flag Area” opens

12:00 Noon                  Opening Ceremonies on the Levee, Ham Radio stops

1:00- 4:00 pm               Final Races

                                    102.1 “The River” Live remote Radio

1:00 pm-5:00pm           Beer Garden is open at the city parking lot between the Lafayette Hotel & the Ohio River

4:30 pm                        Vadakin Cup and Trophies Awarded

Corporate displays open up to include the Army, Navy, Scoddies & Co., Sprint, Marietta RV, Hometown Honda, WesBanco, Progressive Insurance (with Biehl-Hawn Insurance Agency), Advantage Bank, Citizens Bank, Humane Society, Marietta Convention & Visitors Bureau, Zides Sport Shop selling Official shirts and hats, Steve’s Vans, Ohio Bath Fitters, Washington State Community College will be displaying their Nextel Cup car, and others.

 

VFW Post 5108 will be offering campsites for overnight stays at 319 Pike St.  Tents $10.00 weekend; Campers $20.00.  Limited electric service available.

 

 

LLC offering Helicopter Tours $39.00, Fri 3-10pm, Sat 10am-10pm, Sun 10am-7pm-board across Rt 7 North from Pioneer Chevy.

 

 

In general:  There will be balloons, T-Shirts and memorabilia, children’s activities, Pepsi is introducing a new product and giving out free samples, we have a record sign-up of race teams, and there will be plenty of great foods available.  The activities, entertainment, fireworks, and world-class racing will go on all weekend.  Fast, free, fun for all.  Contact me at 373-8811 ext 3102 or email jel@regionalcollectionservices.com
