Fireside Chats in The Parlor
Belle Boyd
Throughout history there have been many capable, intelligent, talented, successful women who have led very interesting lives. For the most part, their personal achievements, heartaches and glories are obscured behind the title of "Mrs." The men in their lives were their vortices. And, although they loved them, their lives were also comprimised because of them. Our Fireside Chats, this year, showcase such enigmatic women.
On February 14, Confederate spy, Belle Boyd will share with us her most memorable moments (there will not be time to share her entire life). This woman in love had more than one husband......one was actually a Union spy.....how complicated is that?
Belle will be dynamically portrayed by Patty Cooper. Patty is well known in the area for her many historic characters. Beside Belle Boyd, Patty portrays Betsey Ross, Anne Bailey, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and other famous women of the past for West Virginia Humanities Council and Artsbridge for schools, churches, libraries, fairs and festivals around the state.
Belle Boyd will be sharing her personal and romantic life experiences in the parlor of The Castle Sunday at 2:00. P.M.
The afternoon will include tea and Belles favorite refreshments. Reservations are requested. The Castle phone number is 740-373-4180. The Castle is handicap accessible.
